Trigger Point

TRIGGER POINT

A "trigger point" is a tight spot in a muscle that refers pain to another place in the body. For example, a knot under the shoulder blade can cause pain to the connecting arm, all the way down to the wrist. This technique requires the client to become more actively involved with helping the therapist pin point the trigger and then communicating pressure changes while deep breathing through a series of "pressure and releases" applied by the therapist's fingertips, thumb or elbows.
